In Memory of Gerry Bernbom 1952-2003

Gerry Bernbom, Executive Investigator and Co-Principal Investigator on the Variations2 Digital Music Library Project, died on the evening of Friday, November 7 after a two-year battle with brain cancer.

Gerry was Director of Research and Academic Computing in University Information Technology Services, and Special Assistant in the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology at Indiana University.

Among his many contributions to IU, Gerry was instrumental in planning and securing NSF funding for the Variations2 project and in carrying out the behind-the-scenes work to keep the project moving forward and provide support for the many researchers, staff, and students working on the project.  Variations2 would not have existed without Gerry, and he will be deeply missed.
